Most people don’t discover their signature scent by planning it out. They stumble into it — a gift, a sample, someone else’s bottle they liked the smell of. If you’ve never landed on “your” scent, you’re not behind. You just haven’t found the right way to look yet.
Start with a mood, not a name
Skip the brand names and bottle shapes for a second. Instead, ask yourself: how do you want to feel when you catch your own scent during the day? Fresh and energizing? Warm and grounding? Woody and understated? Sweet and comforting? Or bold — the one that makes a room notice?
Most people are drawn to one or two of these more than the others. That’s your starting point. A scent on a paper strip and a scent on your skin can be surprisingly different too — body chemistry changes how a fragrance develops, so always test on skin if you can, not just the strip.
Don’t judge a scent in the first thirty seconds. Give it at least twenty minutes on skin — what you smell first isn’t what settles in.

Give it time, and don't be afraid to rotate
Fragrance changes as it wears — top notes fade, heart notes settle, base notes linger. A lot of people rotate between two or three favorites depending on season or mood, and there’s no rule that says you have to pick just one.
If you’re not ready to commit to a full bottle before trying anything, that’s completely normal — sampling a range before you buy makes the whole process a lot less stressful.
